Continuing Education: General

Why Innovative Approaches Are Critical

In this discussion, several independent health advocates who practice outside the traditional model of 1:1 advocacy, will share how their experiences shaped their patient advocacy work. This includes defining the populations they serve, creating new business models, and drawing from alternative funding sources. Advocates will share their visions, how they accomplish, and provide tips on incorporating different ideas into your practice with transparency and integrity.
CE Credit Eligible: Aug 02, 2024 - Jul 31, 2026

After this presentation an advocate will be able to:

  • Identify assumptions about the role of an independent patient advocate.
  • Illustrate areas of opportunity for patient advocates that enhance access to services regardless of age, race, religious/spiritual practice, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity, and immigration status
  • Describe how a client's unique journey through the healthcare system should influence the model used to serve them from a population-based perspective
  • Break down limiting beliefs and barriers impacting patient advocates who are trying to turn ideas into actions in their practice
