CHCAO
A Proud Founding Member
NAHAC looks forward to continuing to work with our fellow health care advocacy organizations as a member of the Coalition of Health Care Advocacy Organizations (CHCAO). CHCAO is striving to create clarity on the language used in our profession. We also look forward to conducting data collection efforts on the role of patient and health care advocates to show the positive impact of health care advocacy on patient outcomes and serve as a central resource for those interested in the profession of health care advocacy.

Position Statement:
Advancing Medicare-Funded Advocacy Services
The Coalition of Health Care Advocacy Organizations (CHCAO) is committed to shaping the future of patient and health care advocacy in alignment with Medicare’s evolving framework for advocacy services. With the introduction of new Medicare codes like Principal Illness Navigation (PIN) and Community Health Integration (CHI), there are exciting opportunities to expand access to high-quality advocacy for Medicare beneficiaries. However, these changes also raise important questions about advocate qualifications, ethical standards, and professional competencies.

CHCAO's Purpose
- To strengthen communications among the member organizations.
- To identify opportunities whereby aggregating knowledge and resources can increase the impact and efficiency of our collective missions.
- To collaborate on common issues, challenges, and patient and health care advocacy concerns.
- To increase the visibility of patient and health care advocacy and its member organizations.

CHCAO's Mission
To provide collaborative leadership that advances the profession of patient and health care advocacy. Our members include:
