ACTIVE

Patient advocacy sits at the center of every healthcare journey—but like the human body, it involves multiple “systems” working together. From the medical team to the family, institutional structures, and the patient themselves, each group communicates differently.

In this engaging and practical session, we’ll explore how understanding these different communication “languages” can improve relationships, reduce friction, and lead to better outcomes. By learning to recognize and adapt to varying communication styles, advocates can navigate complex situations with greater confidence and effectiveness.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the underlying mindsets behind communication styles (“It’s not what you said—it’s what was heard”)
  • Recognize their own communication style and adapt it to different audiences
  • Apply strategies to pivot conversations toward more productive and effective outcomes
