2025 Schueler Seminar
ACTIVE
The 2025 Ken Schueler Cancer Seminar took an in-depth look at the latest trends and challenges surrounding pancreatic cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 1.7% of men and women were projected to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during their lifetime, based on data from 2018–2021 (excluding 2020 due to COVID-19).
Despite advancements in medical technology and improved survival rates for many cancers, pancreatic cancer remained one of the most lethal gastrointestinal cancers, with a low five-year survival rate and persistent difficulties in early detection. Globally, both the incidence and mortality rates continued to rise, with projections estimating an incidence rate of 18.6 per 100,000 people by 2050—reflecting an annual growth rate of 1.1%. This trend highlighted the increasing global public health burden of pancreatic cancer.
This seminar featured a panel of distinguished speakers specializing in the support of patients and families affected by pancreatic cancer. They shared critical insights and strategies to help healthcare professionals and advocates provide comprehensive, compassionate care to this complex patient population.
